The Messianic Karaite
100% Jewish AND 100% Christian
Why The Messianic Karaite?
Rabbinic Jews believe the Talmud trumps the Torah; Karaite Jews reject rabbinic teachings in favor of strict adherence to the Jewish Bible; and Messianic Jews believe both Testaments are the Word of God. Rabbinic Jews don’t see me as Jewish; I am not a Karaite Jew; and I’ve never been a member of a Messianic synagogue. (I am one of the pastors at a Hebraic Christian congregation.) So why do I call this website The Messianic Karaite? Well, although I self-identify as a Jewish Christian, I am both an old-fashioned Messianic and a Biblical literalist at heart, and I had to call it something.
Please note that as far as I know, you can only find Messianic Karaites on the blogosphere. Karaite Jews accept Orthodox Jews as Jews but consider them heretics. Orthodox Jews accept Karaite Jews as Jews who are “on the wrong path”—in other words, heretics. And neither Orthodox Jews nor Karaite Jews see Messianic Jews as actually being Jewish, despite what their DNA results might say.
